Sophie, he decides, is doing entirely too much needlework to watch all night. Hypnotic though it might be, it's bloody dull. And so it's with great melodramatic aplomb that Howl stands, sighing, and heads to the door of the castle. "Don't waste your time waiting up for me."

In the hearth, Calcifer's flame barely registers any sort of change at all. Sophie's only response is the barest glance up from her sewing (triangles, triangles, triangles, that thing will be big enough to clothe an elephant soon) and Michael merely looks up from the spell he's memorising.

"Well. That's a fine how-do-you-do." Unappreciated, underappreciated -- they can call it what they like and so can he -- Howl moves to the door. "I'm glad to see what I does matters so much to all of you." Shaking out his hair and smoothing the trailing sleeves of the scarlet-and-grey suit, he straightens up before turning the knob above the door and pulling the door open, thinking fine, I'll stay out all night this time and I won't answer a single question about it when I return.
